Das kostenlose Grafikkarten-Tool GPU Caps Viewer ist in der Version 1.9.3 verfügbar. Ähnlich wie GPU-Z und der Graphics-Tab von CPU-Z liest es Informationen über die Grafikkarte aus, zusätzlich lassen sich auch noch Demos für OpenGL (1.2 / 2.1 / 3.x) und OpenCL (GPU & CPU) abpielen. Der Radeon BIOS Editor (RBE) ist in der Version 1.26 erschienen. Der RBE ist ein nützliches Tool von Techpowerup, dem Entwickler von GPU-Z, mit dem sich bestimmte Parameter der BIOS-Datei von AMD/ATI Radeon Grafikkarten modifizieren lassen, ein besonderes Augenmerk liegt dabei auf den Einstellungen für die Taktraten und das Lüfterverhalten. Die vielen Einstellungsmöglichkeiten erlauben eine individuelle Anpassung der Grafikkarte an die eigenen Bedürfnisse. Da falsche Einstellungen zu Defekten führen können, sollte das Tool nur von erfahrenen Nutzern benutzt werden. Eine Anleitung kann hier abgerufen werden.

AMD hat den WHQL zertifizierten Catalyst 10.10 veröffentlicht. Das neue Treiberpaket wird erstmals in zwei verschiedenen Versionen angeboten. Zusätzlich zu der normalen Catalyst Software Suite wird eine AMD Catalyst Accelerated Parallel Processing (APP) Technology Edition angeboten. APP ersetzt künftig die Marke ATI Stream Technology. Wie der Name des neuen Paketes bereits erahnen lässt, enthält es die OpenCL Laufzeitumgebung. Bisher war eine zusätzliche Installation des ATI Stream SDK (künftig AMD APP SDK) notwendig, wenn auf der Grafikkarte OpenCL-Kernel ausgeführt werden sollten. Das zweite Große neue Feature ist die Unterstützung für Blu-ray 3D - vorerst allerdings nur auf der heute erst neu vorgestellten AMD Radeon HD 6800 Serie.

AMD hat ein Update für die ATI Catalyst Application Profiles (CAP) veröffentlicht. Seit dem ATI Catalyst 10.2 hat AMD das ATI CrossFireX Application Profile aus dem eigentlichen Treiber herausgelöst, sodass Updates dieser Profile wesentlich schneller den Kunden zugänglich gemacht werden können. Mit den monatlich veröffentlichten ATI-Catalyst-Treiberpaketen werden wie bisher immer alle zum Zeitpunkt der Veröffentlichung aktuellen CAPs (Catalyst Application Profiles) ausgeliefert. In den sporadisch veröffentlichten Updates dieser Profile sind nur die jeweils angegebenen Änderungen enthalten.
Um die installierten Profile auf dem aktuellsten Stand zu halten, müssen Besitzer von ATI-Radeon-Grafikkarten sämtliche CAP-Updates installieren, die seit dem Erscheinen des auf ihrem System installierten ATI-Catalyst-Treiberpakets veröffentlicht wurden.

Das Standard-Programm zur Darstellung von PDF-Dateien, der Reader von Adobe, hat am heutigen vorgezogenen Patchday ein Update auf die Version 9.4.0 bzw. 8.2.5 erfahren. Das Update behebt kritische Sicherheitslücken, die den Reader zum Absturz bringen können oder gar Angreifern erlauben, die Kontrolle über das betroffene System zu übernehmen. Da die Sicherheitslücken bereits aktiv genutzt werden, wird von Adobe zu einer sofortigen Aktualisierung geraten. Am einfachsten kann die Aktualisierung über die integrierte Update-Funktion bezogen werden. Als nächster regulärer Patchday wurde von Adobe Dienstag der 8. Februar 2011 festgelegt.
Das PDF-Format wird inzwischen erheblich für Angriffe auf User verwendet, indem kompromittierender Schadcode in die Dateien eingefügt wird. Laut Erhebungen des Anti-Viren Software-Herstellers F-Secure im Sommer des letzten Jahres soll das PDF-Format mittlerweile sogar der Träger Nummer 1 sein, wenn es darum geht Schadcode "an den Mann zu bringen".
Der aktuelle Adobe Reader läuft unter Windows ab Windows 2000 SP4, Mac OS X und Linux/UNIX. Eine schlanke Alternative ist Foxit Reader.

Roaming profiles
9.4: While Roaming Profiles are not officially supported, a related workflow has been enabled. In previous releases, when using Acrobat or Reader with a roaming profile where the folder is redirected to a server share, the application crashed with a C++ runtime error if the user did not have the right permissions on their folder. Because the PDF viewing application also looked at all of the target folder’s parent folders, the crash also occurred if any of those parent folders did not have the requisite permissions. In this release, parent folder permissions are no longer checked, and no error occurs if the user has permission to access the target folder.
